Log in to reviewKustom Kulture collectors are their own breed, and Rat Fink is the emblem of that world. The Gray Chrome treatment at number 15 came out as a convention exclusive, which places it in the part of the Retro Toys catalog that tends to get saved rather than opened.
The character's appeal is that it is deliberately ugly, all bulging eyes and jagged teeth and no interest whatsoever in being handsome, and chrome laid over that only sharpens the joke. It is a design that rewards a second look rather than a glance.
The chrome finish is the whole surface treatment here, and the Gray Chrome name carries most of the difference at number 15. A single vinyl piece in the oversized-head format, and it holds an edge of the shelf nicely beside other chrome or cast-metal-style releases.
